Joey is an extrovert and a very smart student who always finishes tasks first and begins speaking off topic. His behavior distracts the entire class. What would you do about Joey’s misbehavior?

Part 2  Error correction and feedback

One of your students has written the following short paragraph about his day. He is a beginner level student and has just learned how to use the simple past tense. How would you correct it? How much would you correct it? What general comments would you give to the student at the end of his paragraph?

My day

“Yesterday I didn’t had a good day.  I was late in school and I missed the bus. My girlfriend was angry with me because  I didn’t called her and she wants to go to a party but I can’t because I helped my father in the garage. Also my mother was angry because I forgot  clean my bedroom. The only  than understands me is mine dog, He never get  angry and I love him very much. I wish today is better day.”

Demonstrates complete understanding of unit 5. Follows the instructions of the task and completes all the different sections. Gives full and detailed descriptions that correspond to each scenario. Uses an appropriate approach to correct the mistakes in the written text (section2).

B= 89%

Demonstrates considerable understanding of unit 5. Follows the instructions of the task. However, some parts of the tasks are not analyzed thoroughly.

C= 71%

Demonstrates partial understanding. However, most parts of the task are not analyzed thoroughly.

D= 61% 

Demonstrates poor understanding. The situations do not correspond to the different scenarios given.


F= 0% - Failed

Demonstrates no understanding of this unit.
