I have been a registered nurse for 38 years and I currently own Holt Infusion Services. My husband and I have been visiting Playa del Carmen, Mexico for the past 30 years. During that time we were able to meet new friends and catch up with the previous friends that we had met. I am able to communicate with the spouses and their children because I am able to speak conversational Spanish. Over the years I began teaching the children of our friends how to speak English. At the time it worked well. We would visit, I would continue to teach the children how to speak enough English,that as they grew, they were able to obtain better jobs. Knowing how to speak English was the key to being able to support your family and maintaining and even moving up the chain to better jobs. During my last few visits I attempted to teach the female spouses of mine and my husband's friends. This was very difficult and no matter how hard I tried, the women,I think felt mortified in front of their children. We continued to visit and I continued to translate for my husband every part of the conversation that was spoken in Spanish. During my last visit there were more young children of an age that would like to learn to speak English. I decided right there that I would teach English as a second language correctly. Surely I could find a program that could help me do a better job with anyone that wanted to learn the English language. I got on the internet and found this program. I am determined to make this my new profession. To see the difference it makes in their way of life is really all the incentive I need. I want anyone that can obtain a better job, or even obtain employment at all in some areas, to be able to do so because they now can speak English. I have worked with Doctors without Borders and in any of those countries the poverty level increases substantially because they cannot speak English. Many of the areas are dependent upon tourism for their income. If you cannot speak English most of these areas will not hire you. The tourists ask questions, for directions and  for many unexpected things that someone with a little English might be able to help them with. If you speak English just to get by with questions that you think will be asked, the employers find out very quickly that getting by is not enough for American tourists that can only obtain directions in English. I want anyone that really wants to learn, that wants to better themselves at work or just wants to be able to speak to friends, to be able to learn from me. I want to be able to teach correctly so that no one who wants to learn will be taught by someone who just gets them by. I want them to speak it just the way they want and need to.
